Charge distributor ArgoFET 100A-200A/ Battery banks

Function: The ArgoFET charge current distributor connects several separate batteries/battery banks so that all batteries can be charged simultaneously by the alternator or a charger. However, if one battery in this bank is discharged (e.g. the starter battery), this does not lead to the other batteries (e.g. the service battery) also being discharged. The batteries are only automatically connected and thus charged simultaneously during charging; when discharging, the individual batteries/battery banks are automatically separated from each other.

The advantage of FET charge current distributors is that, unlike conventional diode distributors, they have virtually no voltage drop, eliminating the need for a voltage increase at the charger or alternator – which is required with diode distributors. The voltage drop is approx. 0.02V at low currents and only 0.1V at high currents.

Of course, the correct dimensioning of the battery cables also plays an important role in avoiding voltage drop, so short cable runs and sufficient cross-sections should be ensured.
Example: At 100A current, a cable length of 10m and a 50mm² cable cross-section has a voltage loss of 0.26V. With 5 meters of cable and only 10mm², a current of 50A already causes a loss of 0.35V!

The charge current distributor is suitable for 12V and 24V battery systems; it automatically adjusts itself to the respective battery system according to the input voltage at the input terminal.

Alternator start-up excitation:

Some alternators require DC voltage at the B terminal for start-up excitation. On the one hand, there is a direct cable connection due to the connection between the battery and the alternator, but on the other hand, the isolation diode prevents current feedback so that the alternator does not start up. The new ArgoFET charge current distributor has a special current-limited connection for the start-up excitation of the alternator.

The ArgoFET 100-2 is designed for charging currents up to 100A and for connecting 2 separate batteries/battery banks (e.g. the starter battery and the service battery).
