Victron GX Tank 140 for connecting up to 4 tank sensors

The GX Tank 140 acquires readings from up to four tank level sensors. It is an accessory for the Victron range of GX system monitoring products, of which the Cerbo GX is the most commonly used model, and it can also be used with the Color Control GX.

Tank levels can be read locally in the system, see screenshot, and also accessed remotely via our VRM Portal worldwide.

The GX Tank is compatible with both current transmitters (4 to 20 mA) and voltage transmitters (0 to 10 V). The GX Tank 140 connects to the Cerbo GX or Color Control GX via USB, which also powers the GX Tank. No additional power cables are required.

Wiring the tank sender is kept as simple as possible: Two of the four inputs provide a 24 V power supply for the sender. The other two channels require an external power supply, for which a mains connection with fused outputs is available. 4 x 3-pole, pluggable terminal blocks (for sensor connection) are included in the scope of delivery.

A 2-pole, pluggable terminal block is included for the external power supply of the Cerbo.

The upper and lower limits are configurable to allow the use of senders that only provide a portion of the scale, e.g., 0 to 5 V.

To obtain a stable reading, the measurements are damped with averaging. Damping can be configured between 1 and 60 seconds.

Defective sensors and wiring problems are detected. An alarm is triggered if the values are outside the permissible range.

For marine applications, the GX device can transmit these tank levels via the NMEA 2000 network to other displays, such as a Multi-Function Display (MFD).

Compatible tank probes / tank senders:

• the Votronic tank probes in our shop: TE12-24K; TE15-50K; TE20 K-WC
• as well as other probes that meet the specification (see technical details)

Functions:

• Interfaces for tank level sensors with 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V (a combination is also possible).
• Connection to the GX device via the USB interface.
• Channels 1 and 2 use a fused power source from the Vin connection for sensor excitation.
• Channels 3 and 4 use an integrated 24 V power source for sensor excitation, which is powered via the USB interface. The integrated 24 V power source simplifies installation and wiring, as no additional power source is required. • Configurable input range, e.g., for connecting a sensor with 0 to 5 V.
• Configurable averaging filter (1 to 60 seconds) to dampen the effect of liquid movement.
• Sensor fault detection: An alarm is triggered if the input signal is outside the normal/acceptable operating range.
• Full integration with a GX device for configuration, monitoring, and control of tank pumps (relays)

Note: Please note that other sensor types or sensors with operating conditions outside the normal/permissible operating range are not compatible and may lead to permanent damage to the device, especially if the input voltage limit is exceeded.
