Venus GX for monitoring and displaying Victron devices

The Venus GX offers intuitive operation and monitoring of all Victron power systems. The list of Victron products that can be connected to it includes almost all VICTRON products: inverters, Multis, Quattros, MPPT solar chargers, BMV, Lynx Ion + Shunt and other devices.

Areas of application:

The Venus GX can be used in various applications.

• For monitoring / controlling connected components in the local network (without internet connection via WLAN or network cable)
• For monitoring / controlling energy storage systems (ESS), internet connection may be required
• In RVs for checking fill levels, temperature(s), available battery capacity, solar power, etc. (GSM router required)
• In boats, garden sheds and many other locations provided a GSM connection (router) is available.

VRM Online Portal

If the Venus GX is connected to the internet, all measurement data can be forwarded to the free VICTRON website for remote monitoring: the VRM Online Portal

Remote Console on the VRM

Setup and monitoring are done via the Remote Console. Either via the VRM, via the built-in WiFi access point or via the local LAN/WiFi network. (e.g. via your own router or via a commercially available GSM router. The VRM app is available for free in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store or can be accessed via an internet browser.

Automatic Generator Start/Stop

An extremely flexible start/stop system. Uses charge, voltage, load and other parameters. Specific settings for quiet times and optionally a monthly test run can be set.

The Heart of the ESS – Energy Storage System

Data Logging

If the system is connected to the internet, all data is sent to the VRM portal. If there is no internet connection, the Venus GX stores the data internally for up to 48 hours. By inserting a Micro-SD card or a USB stick, even more data can be stored. These files can be uploaded to the VRM portal or converted for analysis offline with the VictronConnect App.

• Multis and Quattros, including split-phase and three-phase systems. Monitoring and control (on/off and current limiter). Configuration changes are possible (remotely via internet only, not without internet connection).

• BlueSolar MPPT 150/70 and MPPT 150/85 with VE.Can Port. If several

• BMV-700 family devices can be connected directly to the VE.Direct ports on the Venus GX. Use the VE.Direct cable for this.
• BMV-7xx family devices can be connected to the VE.Direct ports on the Venus GX. An additional cable is required.
• Lynx Ion + Shunt
• Lynx Ion BMS
• Lynx Shunt VE.Can
• Skylla-i Battery Chargers
  Inexpensive tank sensors (0 - 180 Ohm), or with US tank senders (240 - 30 Ohm)
• A USB GPS can be connected to the USB port. The data is sent to the VRM portal for traceability. The current position is then displayed on the map on the VRM.
• Fronius PV inverters
• If more than two VE.Direct products need to be connected, a USB port can be used.

Internet Connection

The Venus GX can be connected to the internet with an Ethernet cable and via Wi-Fi. The Venus GX does not have an internal cellular modem: there is no slot for a SIM card. Instead, use a commercially available GPRS or 3G router. Please see the blog post about 3G routers.

Tank Level Sensor Inputs

The tank level sensor inputs are resistive: connect them to a resistive tank sender. Such tank senders are not offered by Victron. The tank level sensor ports can each be configured to work with European tank senders (0 - 180 Ohm) or with US tank senders (240 - 30 Ohm).
