Parking Heater Kit VW T5/T6 with Autoterm Air 2D (Planar 2D)

With this underfloor installation kit for the Autoterm Air 2D, formerly known as Planar 2D, you can neatly and space-efficiently retrofit a diesel parking heater in your VW T5 or VW T6. The factory-provided installation location on the passenger side under the vehicle – between the running board and the B-pillar – is used.

Overall, this provides a solution that closely resembles an original installation and makes particularly neat use of the available space in the vehicle.

What is included in the installation kit?

The installation kit combines the heater itself with the most important vehicle-specific parts for underfloor mounting in the VW T5 / T6.

• Autoterm Air 2D diesel parking heater
• Mounting flange for underfloor installation at the designated position in the VW T5 / T6
• All necessary parts to implement the air intake in the running board
• Adapter to use the original Volkswagen warm air ducts for the B-pillar on the warm air side

Important: The air-carrying parts for the B-pillar are not included in the scope of delivery and must be ordered from a Volkswagen dealer. A list of the required part numbers will be sent to you automatically by email after purchase.

The Autoterm Air 2D, formerly known as Planar 2D, is a robust and proven diesel parking heater for campers, vans, and travel vehicles.

It is suitable for self-installation, has an E-mark and can therefore be installed without additional TÜV registration. The warranty is also not lost with self-installation.

The technology is deliberately simple and easy to repair. Should something happen on the road, many tasks can be carried out yourself with a little technical understanding.

Maintenance: Don't forget to burn off carbon deposits

With an Autoterm heater, there is only one very simple regular maintenance measure: it should not run permanently only at the lowest setting.

If you mainly operate the heater in the low power range, let it run at the highest setting for about half an hour every 1 to 2 weeks. This allows incipient soot deposits to be burned off.

Operation at high altitudes

Operating diesel devices and engines at high altitudes is fundamentally more demanding because the oxygen content of the air decreases. The diesel heaters in our installation kits are therefore equipped with an altitude kit that automatically adjusts the fuel injection to the changed air pressure conditions.

We developed the altitude kit together with the manufacturer and tested it under real conditions on the Pitztal Glacier. Our customers have since significantly surpassed this altitude record and successfully operated the heater at over 5000 m altitude.

Still important:
After returning to normal altitudes, the heater should be given the opportunity to burn off carbon deposits again.

Remote control and external switching input

A separate remote control can be used to control the heater. The wiring harness has an extra switching input for this purpose.

Control can be continuous by connecting the two cables of the switching input via a switch or a relay. The heater then runs until the connection is broken again. Alternatively, a pulse of 0.5 to 3 seconds can be used.

This allows for several operating options – for example, switching on and regulating from the driver's seat and later switching off from bed without having to get up.

Attention fuel hose

Fuel hose is included in the scope of delivery and can be used as a connector for the fuel lines. The length is usually completely sufficient. The pieces can be divided if necessary.

Should you nevertheless require additional fuel hose, you can reorder it as meterware under Art. 35612 .

A T-piece for the fuel line is not included in the scope of delivery. If an auxiliary heater is present, fuel can be drawn from the tank via this. In this case, the T-piece and 4 clamps must be ordered as well.
