Parking Heater Kit VW T4 with Autoterm Air 2D (Planar 2D)

Installation kit for replacing an original Eberspächer D3L with an Autoterm Air 2D in a VW T4.

With this installation kit, an original Eberspächer D3L in a VW T4 can be replaced by an Autoterm Air 2D, formerly known as Planar 2D.

For this purpose, we supply a completely new heater bracket made of stainless steel. It is screwed directly to the original position and, like the original, also holds the air duct, pump and other components.

In addition, our TEXBOX2: a stainless steel mounting box that combines directly with the holder and fits under the vehicle, allowing for protected installation of the heater.

For connecting the intake and warm air, we supply adapters, warm air ducting and – where necessary – suitable stainless steel clamps. The kit therefore adapts to the original VW ducts.

Important: If the original VW air ducts are not present, this is not the right kit. In this case, the installation must be planned and built individually.

What you still need to solve yourself

Some points must be implemented individually depending on the vehicle and installation situation. This mainly includes cable routing into the interior.

The connection of the original exhaust pipe may also need to be adapted. Alternatively, you can simply use the supplied Autoterm components.

The fuel pump is replaced and then reinstalled in its original position.

Please note: It is not possible to continue using an original control unit. The wiring harness of the new heater must be used completely. Only for the supply voltage via existing cables can it be checked, depending on the installation situation, whether existing lines can still be used.

Only suitable for vehicles with D3L air ducting

This installation kit only works with the air ducting of the Eberspächer D3L.

If no heater or a D2L was previously installed, this kit is unfortunately not suitable. The D2L is not identical in construction to the D3L and uses different air ducting.

The D2L can be recognized by the metal box with air inlet and outlet on the same side. With the D3L, the air inlet and outlet are on opposite sides – similar to the Autoterm Air. The change from D2L to D3L took place around 1995.
