Benefits of the Sequoia Basecamp Roof Rack for the Mercedes Sprinter

The Basecamp Roof Rack is designed to perfectly match the lines of your Mercedes Sprinter campervan, offering both functionality and a sleek, integrated design. The front section consists of a single tube on which you can mount an LED light bar or auxiliary lights – or you can choose not to install any lighting.

However, due to the lightweight construction of this roof rack, vibrations can cause a resonant noise. This can only be prevented by adding extra weight to the front, such as an LED light bar or headlights. Therefore, we strongly recommend mounting lighting on the front of the roof rack.

The upper tubing of the roof rack follows the lines of the vehicle and is set slightly further inward than the lower tubing, preserving the natural shape of the Sprinter. Not only is the front part of the roof rack curved to harmonize perfectly with the bodywork, but so is the rear part of the roof rack.

To enable worldwide shipping, the roof rack is divided into individual parts: the front section, the middle section (which determines the length), and the rear section. After installation, the parts fit seamlessly together, making the modularity almost invisible.

The Basecamp Roof Rack also features a fully modular floor element system, allowing you to customize the arrangement to the specific needs of your camper adventure. Whether you want to create space for solar panels, roof hatches, or cable glands, this system can be perfectly adapted to your camper setup. The flexible design allows you to cover the entire roof or leave space for other installations, depending on your preferences.

The roof rack increases the vehicle's height by 17cm, measured from the rail mounting points (where the C-rail is located). Due to the roof's curvature, it is approximately 15cm in the middle.

Installation Requirements

Important: The Basecamp Roof Rack is not compatible with pop-top roofs. Even if your van model is listed as compatible, this only applies to vehicles without a pop-top roof.

The modular design of the Basecamp Roof Rack allows for easy installation without the need for a forklift or lifting equipment. The roof rack comes with roof rails that mount directly into the OEM drill holes, eliminating the need for drilling into the roof.

Our roof rails are slightly taller than the OEM versions, providing ample space to mount solar panels or floor plates along the entire length of the vehicle. The continuous design of the rails allows for flexible mounting options along the entire length. For vehicles with a finished interior, the roof rails can be installed from the outside using the "Roof Rails Installation Kit for Existing Interiors".

We strongly recommend mounting an LED light bar or headlights on the front of the roof rack to minimize wind noise.
